The "Beanzawave" - developed by a partnership between Heinz and GAMA Microwave Technology - is a small turquoise device that plugs into your computer's USB port and uses a combination of mobile phone radio frequencies to create the heat to cook food in under a minute. It was designed to fit the new Heinz Snap Pots for the supposed 69% of worker bees that are too busy for lunch.
At a minuscule measurement of just 7.4 inches tall by 2.6 inches wide and 5.9 inches deep, this is certainly a cool new gadget but at the $160 retail price, you'll probably want to wait for some economies of scale first. My big question is - with the size so small that it doesn't fit the average microwaveable meal - is Heinz going to run into some antitrust issues like Microsoft faced when it used its monopoly in operating systems to acquire a dominant position in office applications and browsers? Might be smarter (and open up the market) to redesign the shape so it doesn't only fit the Snap Pots (unless they decide to give 'em away for free - at which point I'm certainly open arms!)
